   엿은 큰 시험에 행운을 가져다 준다.

   밤에 휘파람을 부는 것은 불운을 가져온다.

   당신의 나라에서는 불운의 숫자가 무엇인가요?

1. My son is taking a big test tomorrow. 내 아들이 내일 큰 시험을 친다.

2. You have to sleep well before taking a big test.

   당신은 시험 전날에 잘 자야 한다.

1. There are superstitions or myths we Koreans believe in.

   If you dream of a pig, it will bring good luck.

   한국 사람들이 믿는 미신이나 신화가 있다.

   만약 돼지 꿈을 꾸면 행운을 가져다 준다는 것이다.

2. Taffies called "yeot" is a good gift for students taking a big test.

   People believe it will help them pass the test.

   엿이라고 불리는 사탕은 큰 시험을 앞둔 학생에게 좋은 선물이다.

   사람들은 합격하는데 돕는다고 믿는다.

3. On the other hand, Koreans think that it is bad luck to eat seaweed soup before the test.

   반면에 한국 사람들은 시험을 앞두고 미역국을 먹는 것은 불운하다고 생각한다.

4. Also, if Koreans see a magpie, they believe that a welcomed guest will visit.

   Koreans don't write a person's name in red.

   They think this is only for dead people.

   또한 한국 사람들은 까치를 보면 손님이 방문 할 것이라고 믿는다.

   한국 사람들은 사람의 이름을 빨간색으로 쓰지 않는다.

   빨간색으로 쓰는 것은 오로지 죽은 사람을 위한 것이다라고 생각한다.

5. The number four is considered unlucky because the Chinese character for death is read the same way as the number four.

   숫자 4는 한자 죽음과 같은 발음이 나기 때문에 불행을 뜻한다.
